Angus Laing

Professor Angus Laing
Education Advisory Board

Professor Angus Laing was appointed Dean of Lancaster University Management School in October 2015. In addition to his role leading the School, he is the past Chair of the Association of Business Schools and is a Director of Nurture HE.

Professor Laing was previously Dean of Loughborough University’s School of Business and Economics. He has also held posts at University of Glasgow Business School, where he was Head of School, and at the Open University Business School, where he was Director of Research.

As Dean at Loughborough Business School he was responsible for developing the research base and teaching performance of the school.

Sakina Zafar

Sakina Zafar
Operations Director

Sakina is an experienced education consultant and has worked with schools both in the UK and internationally.

She held the position of Director of Global Membership Services at RAD and previously she was Director of Academic Development and Deputy CEO at the Council of British International Schools.

Her responsibilities have included business development, leading programmes for whole school improvement as well as school operations and management. In addition, she has overseen professional development and teacher training initiatives and the setup of private schools overseas.

Sakina has also worked as a School Improvement Advisor and as a Vice Principal of a secondary school. Sakina is a Qualified Teacher and holds a LLB in Law and a LLM in International, Commercial and European Law.
Simon Collins

Simon Collins
Education Director

Simon has worked in the UK state education system for nearly 20 years as both a teacher, head of department and a senior leader. Starting his career in internet development, he moved to train as a teacher, securing his first position at a grammar school in Kent where he quickly progressed to lead the ICT department.

He worked as the assistant and subsequently deputy head of the world famous BRIT school for Performing Art and Technology in South London, developing their curriculum offer and improving their use of data. Most recently, he was the inaugural principal at a new University Technical College with a focus on Media and the Arts, based in West London.

Simon has an excellent understanding of how schools function and operate and is an expert in delivering sustainable change to improve student progress.

Raju Haldankar

Raju Haldankar qualified as an accountant with a leading firm of Chartered Accountants headquartered in London.

He started his career in financial services with a FTSE listed investment bank as an internal auditor and then moved to the investment management part of the bank which provided discretionary portfolio management services to high net worth individuals along with a wide range of investment funds for the retail market as well high net worth family funds.

Raju’s experience in financial services continued where he was as a partner at a boutique brokerage firm specialising in cash equities and bond trading for blue chip institutional clients.
Simon Collins

Rowan Griffiths
Project Manager - Student Engagement and Professional Development

Rowan has worked in state education in the UK for over 20 years, as a teacher, Head of Department and most recently heading up European Union funded Erasmus+ projects. He has significant experience as a grant author and project manager for multi partner international projects.

A Business Head with a demonstrated history of working in the performing arts industry, Rowan has held several key roles within the internationally renowned BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in London.

Rowan is skilled in International Project Management, Coaching, Event Management, Educational Technology, and International Relations. He is also a strong business development professional with Sports Science, Computer Science and PGCE qualifications from Brunel University.

Mikala Aboorashtchi

Angela Thomas
Project Manager - Global

Angela has worked in the education and commercial sector for over 17 years. A qualified primary school teacher holding a post graduate diploma in education, and a BA honours degree in Psychology and Management, Angela is currently a professional CTI coach and a member of Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.

As well as having an extensive specialist recruitment career in senior finance and communications, Angela has held several leadership positions internationally. As a director of a global listed business, she led the successful expansion into Western Australia.

With a personal passion for education and international development, Angela now specialises in the development of learning technologies to improve the quality of global education.

Mikala Aboorashtchi

Mikala Aboorashtchi
Head of Human Resources

Mikala is an experienced CIPD qualified HR professional. Mikala previously held the position of HR Manager at Santander Asset Management. Her 7 years’ experience within HR has primarily been within financial services.

As Head of HR Mikala is responsible for providing strategic advice and driving forward the people agenda. Mikala supports the business by leading on all employee relations matters, talent management, performance management and business change.

Henry Emuwawon

Digital Marketing

Henry has worked in digital marketing for over ten years. His experience spans the charity sector, travel, hospitality, oil and gas and banking industries.

Henry is a certfied Master CIW Designer and Digital Marketing Expert. He has occupied roles as online marketing manager and creative director. He is responsible for building our online presence to attract the best quality candidates in our specialist market.

As the resident expert for all things digital, Henry enjoys sharing his expertise to the rest of the team and making a difference in schools and universities and how they communicate in the modern world.

Shaun Scoon

Shaun Scoon
Investment Analyst

Shaun has 7 years experience working across Strategy Consultancy and M&A. He worked at Accenture on Commercial Due Diligence mandates for prospective cross-border, corporate and private equity acquisitions.

Following this he was part of a sector agnostic team, executing sell-side mandates for RSM Corporate Finance LLP. Shaun is a Barrister-At-Law and holds an M.B.A from Imperial College London. He graduated in Law from King’s College London.
